When sisters Mary, Teresa and Catherine gather together at their childhood home on the eve of their mother’s funeral, laughter and tears ensue in equal measure. As each of the sisters struggles to come to grips with their loss, childhood battle lines are unearthed and redrawn, memories are disputed and reinvented, life choices are analysed, and grief gives way to cathartic giggling fits.

The Competition: Earlier this year, we went searching for Western Australia’s hottest playwrights. The brief was: “write a monologue with an expected performance duration of 8 to 15 minutes to the theme of ‘Suburban Mayhem’, and you could win $3,000.” The Finals Season: Every night during this final’s season, Perth’s leading actors will perform ALL of the final eight monologues, directed by Lis Hoffmann - 2008’s Maj Monologues winner.
